If you are expecting traditional Latin Pop in this record, you will be in for a big disappointment as the whole record is basically a pop album delivered in Spanish language. In fact, many of the songs in this album were not incorporated with musical instruments that you frequently heard on any Latin or Spanish records you listened before. .
To prove this point, the song “Libre Ya De Amores” has the familiar strains of “Slave to Love” by Bryan Ferry. The title song “Amo” is quite a Latin Hip Hop song which does not utilize Spanish guitar, maracas, and even Latin drums. The first musical strains of “Solo Si” is similar to some musical strain of ballads popularized by famous boy bands during the nineties.
In “Aparece El Sol Y Llueve” you feel like you are listening to any Europop or even felt like a Lady Gaga song in her Artpop album. While you hear shades of Latin instruments in “Domingo” however, the song is quite too eighties in terms of musical treatment; feels like listening to Aztec Camera in Spanish. “I Miss Your Face” is the only English song in this record. Naturally, the singer will hide his weakness in this language by infusing reggae and made the song sound like performed by a Jamaican artist.
The whole album is a total failure, and I believe that Miguel Bose was brave enough to craft an album that is so pop and listeners will look beyond the language. Thus, I give this record 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.
