ALBUM REVIEW :               FLAMINGO

ARTIST                              :               BRANDON FLOWERS

GENRE                              :               POP ROCK

DATE OF RELEASED          :               2014

Listening to this album is like riding a rollercoaster; there are extreme ups and downs musically and emotionally.  Brandon peppered this record with personal emotion from looking into the struggle of having a relationship with  a father or being introspective about certain escapism with life such as gambling in Vegas.  It is like a neighbour opening a door to people and being guilty of looking beyond the living room and snoops inside the bedroom and bathroom.  There are lots of angst and frustrations and hope in this record.

Musically, there is a lot of hope.  There are good songs but what is totally obvious in this record that it somehow lacked a specific direction.  Some songs are too pop, too rock, and there are songs with dash of country and dance elements.  Thus, you stopped in the middle in some songs and figured out what was the melody supposed to bring out.  Yes, the songs  are quite emotional but somehow the music backgrounds and style destroyed some of the emotion the song wants to emphasize.

One good thing about this rollercoaster ride in terms of musicality is that it shows that Brandon Flowers can do more than one musical style very well.  With that he can easily reinvent and adapt specific musical styles according to what is trending at the moment.
