The 80’s was a great decade musically.  However, it was a decade of distinct musical character and many albums did not survive the test of time and end up just one of those rare 80’s album.  Which is the case of this album of this British band which music fans might conclude that this is an obscure band with album filled with fillers.  Well, fortunately, the whole album is quite a gem.  The album is typical 80’s album with usual sound and vibe of new wave bands at that time.

However, there are some songs that would make think that somehow this band is quite ahead of time.  For example, in the song “Freetown, there is a hint of “Ho! Hey!” by The Lumineers, a 2000 band.  The track “One For You,” sounds like a post TAKE THAT Robbie Williams; imagine this song as a the origin of “Rock DJ.”

It is with songs like “Is This Tomorrow” which has a vibe similar to that of The Style Council, “Heartache” which sounds like an early Wham track such as “Im Your Man,” “Spring Again, which sounds like an early U2 recordings, and “Can’t Talk Anymore,” which has blend different hooks with different musical instruments that made this album very likeable.

I say, it is never too late to listen again to this record and appreciate just how good the whole album.  I rate this rare find 4 stars out of 5 stars.  Some songs may sound too 80’s but this is the beauty of music, what is old might be new later on.  Just think of this record being played by Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers, American Wifi, Green Day, and other current modern, indie, and alternative rock bands.
