ALBUM : PORTAL
ARTIST : VRIL
GENRE : EDM / INDUSTRIAL/TECHNO
DATE RELEASED : 2015
Before EDM, there was techno and industrial. Vril, is quite an oddity in this time when electro dance music is the order of the day and even other music genres are integrated with this genre to make the song relevant to young listeners. However, the perception of oddity is eliminated once you listeners got to know the origin of the world Vril. This artist might have taken the name from an Edward Burrel-Lytton novel called THE COMING RACE which was first published in 1871 and later on reprinted as VRIL: THE COMING RACE.

So, it follows that his music might have an industrial or techno theme to be congruent to the DJ’s name. All tracks in this record are named Portal and is followed by a number to distinguish one song from the other. The whole album is structured like a movie soundtrack and let the listeners construct a story when he or she listens to the different tracks of this record.

The whole album pulsates and while it may not invite people to dance but they would be grateful when the tracks are played on the dancefloor just to give them a break. It is up to the listeners to put up some drama while listening to the individual tracks or while sweating it out in the middle of club.
