ALBUM TITLE : TIME OF MY LIFE
ARTIST : RONAN KEATING
GENRE : POP
DATE RELEASED : 2016
This is the kind of record that has to grow on you before you can fully appreciate it. This is a ballad album and songs in these genre tend not to ignite listeners the first time. Of course there are exceptions like “Hello” of Adele for example. Listeners of ballads and acoustic songs tend to react on the popularity of the artist or the melody and some go with the lyrics. With these parameters, you can say the this latest album from Ronan Keating has problems indeed.

First, he is no longer popular like when he was still a part of Boyzone. And the problem lies in the fact perhaps his fans will find difficulty swallowing the songs in here which sounded like any Ed Sheeran song. Perhaps, someo f his fans are adventurous and willing to give this record a chance where Ronan Keating is delivering his most artistic and personal record yet.
There is no problem lyrically in this record as this Irish singer is indeed a good lyricist. You will fall in love with lines like “no one can touch us as long as we’re in love” in “As Long As We’re In Love.” Or easily memorize a line with good rhymes like;
“And we can love like nothing has ever felt so right
Dancing around in the headlight
Staying up talking the whole damn night;
in the song “Shine Like Gold.” You can actually relate with him when he sang this line “There was a landslide; All the roads are open;Now I get to call you my wife; See fairytales are real life” in the song “Landslide.”

The second problem with this album if not for the lyrics but on the musical structure of the songs. Most of the songs lack good hooks thus, many of the songs in here were exciting during the first verse or in the chorus part only. The songs never soar; it is quite a pity that it took him four years to finish this album and only produced an album that nearly fall in the run of them mill category. Perhaps, if you give this record some ample time to listen like I did which it took me four playing time to appreciate the lyrics of the songs.
With that, I will give this record 3 stars if only for the easy to digest and relatable lyrics.
1 star = Ignore it
2 stars= risk it
3 stars = borrow or buy it
4 stars = buy it and keep it
5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
