The problem with listening to folk music is that the melodies are really boring most of the time and the songs almost sound the same.  What compounds the boring aspect is the themes that folk singers sang.  They sang about issues which many people are not familiar with or try to create an issue just to have something to say.  This is the reason why many folks singers are unknown as they are not at tune with current realities so to speak; they create their own reality.

In this album, Alasdair Roberts tried to deliver a very raw folk album to the point that it sounded like a camping song for children.  It is guilty of what most folk album are charged with; monotonous.  All songs sounded the same and it did not help that he mainly focus on the guiltar as his musical instrument when he could have infuse other instruments to make it more palatable to the ears.

After listening to each song, you would conclude that the whole album is amateurish. It is like an album recorded at home and polished by a neighborhood recording studio and presto you have an album.  I rate this record 1 star.
