Curtis Stigers composed one of the most emotional songs ever with direct to your heart lyrics.  “I Wonder Why” has probably one of the simplest song titles but the lyrics is emotionally heartbreaking.  Unfortunately, you clannot say the same with all of the other songs in this record.  Which is rather unfortunate since he can play saxophone and “Michael Boltonish” vocals which are two of the important ingredients to create a series of hit songs during the nineties.

Sadly, Curtis Stigers ended up as just a one hit wonder of the nineties.  The whole album is not actually excruciating to listen.  However, the melodies are too generic and probably, listeners at that time were too tired to listen to ballads as Curtis was not the only one hit wonder balladeer of the decade.  The problem basically with the album was that almost all songs sounded the same and astute listener can detect that it seems that composers and producers of this record just recreated songs out of the notes from “I Wonder Why.” One more thing, the song “You’re All That Matters To Me” is “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling leading me to question why there is no ripping of issue along the likes of “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself” song. Why did no one shouted reductive or someone said that the song was inspired from a Christmas song not the obvious similar song?

It is a pity considering that the singer has a voice that is not painful to listen.  With that I say, the album was saved from total disaster because of the vocal performance and of the song “ I Wonder Why.”  I rate this record 2 stars out of five stars.

Ratings Description:
