He is considered as a one hit wonder which was a common phenomenon during the new wave era.  One of the reasons of course why Al Corley became as such as his music was so typical during that decade thus, listening to it at this point in time, the dated sounds and ambience can be explicitly felt.  But, it doesn’t mean that this album has no excellent songs.

Some of the most memorable tracks in this 1984 album are “Cold Dresses,” Square Rooms,” “Lie Detector,” and “Over Me.”  The rest of the songs sounds like similar to these mentioned songs and felt like the chords were just re-arranged to fill in the album with the required number of tracks in order to be considered as a full length album.

If you are still stuck in the eighties in terms of music, this record is still worth listening 31 years after it was released.  Thus, I rate this record 3 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
