The problem with most EDM tracks and albums nowadays is that many of these are no longer danceable and take the route of being trippy as if these songs are EDM versions of rock songs.  Thus, EDM tracks tend to either noisy or hypnotic. Probably, the only time that EDM tracks become danceable is when current pop hits were reinvigorated with EDM versions as part of the remix series to promote the record.

In this record, Galantis will surprise listeners because Pharmacy album is loaded with not only danceable tunes but EDM tracks that will make you reminisce early nineties when the genre was still known as either electronica and music in this category where more palatable to the ears.  While there is a tendency for the whole vibe of this record to become generic, it cannot be denied that there are some tracks in here that can be considered as refreshing like “Forever Tonight,” “Call If You Need Me,” “Water,” “Runaway(U and I),” and “Louder, Harder, and Better.”

As a whole, the album is good to listen as it is not too generic and Galantis was able to control the sounds and instruments and prevent the whole album to become a mess.  Yes, not all times that you have a very engaging EDM album thus, I rate this record 3.5 stars.

Ratings Description:
