ALBUM TITLE : AQUIEN QUIERA ESCUCHAR
ARTIST : RICKY MARTIN
GENRE : LATIN POP
DATE RELEASED : 2015
Non-Latin music fans would definitely say that Ricky Martin is a has been considering that he has not made a dent with English pop songs. For Latin music fans, they would argue that nope, he is still here and active with releasing Latin tracks and albums. However, many of his tracks were not as big as those of Enrique Iglesias in terms of hits. This can be attributed that Enrique’s output were more of Latin infused pop tracks instead of pure Latin music.
In this album, Ricky Martin stayed on what he does best which is delivering passionate Spanish songs and traditional dance Latin music. This is where his problem lies, it seems that he still bent on recovering lost glories and limit his repertoire with Spanish songs that made him huge like “Maria” and La Vida Copa.” While this is not a bad thing, this is not good also as there is boring ambience when you listen to some tracks. There is nothing wrong if he will experiment with pop producers like Diplo, Skirellex, or Avicci in order to give this album fresher sound. It’s a good thing though that he did not succumb to hiring Pitbull to polish this record.
I rate this record 2.5 stars out of five stars.
1 star = Ignore it
2 stars= risk it
3 stars = borrow or buy it
4 stars = buy it and keep it
5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
