ALERT TO FANS : THIS IS A GOOD RECORD

ALBUM TITLE                        :        REID ALERT

ARTIST                                   :        JAMES REID

GENRE                                    :        POP

DATE RELEASED                   :        2015

This album has a catchy title and it makes use of James surname to make fans make it easy for them to remember this EP or mini-album.  The question is if the tracks on this record are as memorable as the album title and the corresponding album cover? Let us see.

In “Huwag Kang Humirit,” he professed liking a girl and demanding that she belongs to him already. The song is not only devoid of romantic insinuations but perfect illustration of male chauvinism at work.  His duet with Nadine Lustre works in a way “Hanap – Hanap” proves that James Reid is a better singer than Daniel Padilla. He sings more passionately than him.  However, Nadine’s vocal contribution is just average how you wish she poured more emotion in this song like James did.  In “10,” which is reggae infused track, James gave his fans a little bit of versatility.  And that is he can experiment with different musical genres, and it works.

“Randomatic” is R and B in terms of musical treatment.  You wonder how he is able to sing well in this genre.  Even though that the song is contemporary in sounds, credit to the lyricist who is able to infused old school lyrics which makes the song quite romantic despite the Taglish lyrics.  By the time your reach “Bonfire Love Song and Babalik Ka Rin,” you will realize that this mini –album is well polished.  The tracks have good production aspect which is quite a rarity when it comes to many OPM that only utilize basic drum guitar as if the singer is just singing along a “karaoke” track.

I hope that by the he will release his full length album, it will be as good and as polished as this EP. With that I rate this record 4 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:
