ALBUM REVIEW               :           BEFORE THIS WORLD

ARTIST                                  :           JAMES TAYLOR

GENRE                                  :           FOLK/ COUNTRY/ POP

DATE RELEASED               :           2015

James Taylor is one of the most inspirational singers of all time. After all this years, he still finds the world a good place to live.  You can tell that he is convinced this way the moment you listen to this latest album from “You’ve Got A Friend” singer.  While he still peppered his songs with “Fire and Rain” characters, it cannot be doubted that he still has the courage to encourage people to live their lives the most that they can do.  This is the very essence of this record.

Consider the following lyrics of the title song of this album, “Before This World.”

“So let us love and let us not delay
The world is old and it will never last
Our share of joy is in this moment past
Will you come away, come away”

Those words are so very hopeful even if he is talking about the past.  This is why in “Today, Today, Today,” he was reliving the past but not to the point of emphasizing the regrets but rather on the beauty of the experiences he had with the past.  Like any other James Taylor records, this one is also full of elegance, passionate, gentle lyrics, reflective, and inspiring.  This is a good treat and a break from EDM music laden world.

Time will only tell if this album will turn out classic songs along the likes of “Sweet Baby James,” “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You,” and many other classic tunes that he penned.  Meantime, I urge you to listen to this great album and I rate this 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
