ALBUM REVIEW               :           #1 TO INFINITY

ARTIST                                  :           MARIAH CAREY

GENRE                                  :           POP

DATE RELEASED               :           2015

Mariah Carey is the only artist in recent years who released at least three greatest hits album containing mostly the same song.  With #1 To Infinity, Mariah is at it again, displaying her chart achievement as solo performer who top the charts 18 times and only The Beatles have more number 1’s than her.  One of the problems Mariah Carey’s number songs have is that not too many people remember at least one half of them if not all.  This is probably the reason why she keeps on issuing greatest hits album containing these songs to remind them that she sang “Emotions”, “One Sweet Day,” and “Loverboy.”

And that she also had number one song title “Always Be My Baby,” Vision of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” and “Fantasy.” Her fans need to be reminded that she also top the charts with “Dreamlover,” “Hero,” “Heartbreaker,” and “Touch My Body.”  Maybe she wanted to add more number ones with the song “Infinity”. Unfortunately, this is the kind of song that even Mariah Carey fans will be too tired to listen to it. It only takes one word to describe this song; MESS.  Indeed, the song lacks musical direction.  It is like a hodge-podge of what she had done before.  It is like incorporating all choruses and refrains of all her number one songs into one song.

With Infinity being a run of the mill song, I say you buy the single if you want it in your Mariah collection and do away with this record to save money.  I rate this record 2 stars due to Infinity being a bad song.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
