ALBUM REVIEW               :           SEX AND LOVE

ARTIST                                  :           ENRIQUE IGLESIAS

GENRE                                  :           POP

DATE RELEASED               :           2014

It seems that it has become mandatory for singers to have a sex album; Madonna’s Erotica, Janet Jackson’s Velvet Rope, and the list goes on and on and now you have Enrique Iglesias doing his Sex and Love thing.  One thing you notice though that homage to sex albums were mostly done by female singers not so with male singers.  Thus, it is interesting to discover how Enrique Iglesias will treat the subject.

Unlike with female vocalists, male singers do not focus on sex as empowerment issues but rather as fun and guiltless human wants and need.  Thus, Enrique sings about dancing as sexual innuendos, spending money on alcohol just to have sex, and getting the pretty girls as a result.  You can say that the whole album is just a sexual release instead of preaching about misguided ideas about sex and love.  Thus, you have an album full of upbeat music and some songs about yearning.

This record will not rank up there as one of the best Latin albums of all time or one of the records from Enrique however, this record will make listeners and especially fans to want more records like this in the future.  There are no outstanding tracks in here only generic tracks but this Latin singer was able to infuse high level of aplomb to make some songs stood out from similar tempo songs from other similar pop artist.  He just simply delivers guilty pleasures in terms of fun music.  With that, I rate this record 3 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
