ALBUM REVIEW               :           BIRDY (SPECIAL EDITION)

ARTIST                                  :           BIRDY

GENRE                                  :           POP

DATE RELEASED               :           2011

From the first musical bar in the song in “1901,” you knew that this singer is no ordinary singer and is loaded with talents.  She could sing haunting songs like “Skinny Love” without being irritating vocally.  She can also deliver social commentary songs without being too preachy like what she did in “People Help The People.” In “White Winter Hymnal,” she showed one facet of her talent which is she can also sing like an angel.

This record showed that she can transform a song and made like her own song.  There are several cover versions and remakes in this record and fortunately, it is not forcing through or feels like listening to original recording.  Instead, what you hear will impress upon to listeners that these are new songs if they are ignorant that “Fire and Rain” was first sang by James
Taylor for example.

After listening to this record, you will hope that you will hear in her future recordings more original music from her so that you can really gauge her true talent.  I rate this record 3 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
