Album Review               : LOVE STORY

Artist                  :       TIM MCGRAW

Genre                 :       COUNTRY

Date of Released     :               2014

With an album title like “Love Story,” it is either you will fall in love with the record or you will be heartbroken due to disappointments.  Tim McGraw is one of the most successful country performers ever.  He delivered many country hits and made some crossover to Hot 100 charts.  Thus, there is some kind of expectations with regard to this album  considering that he is already decades in the industry thus, he knows what his fans and other listeners wants.

“Just To See You Smile” becomes a loveable ditty due to banjos used as musical background and plucking rhythm that suggests how excited someone seeing a smile.  The album has song about a partner acting as best friend in “My Best Friend.”  “When The Stars Go Blue” initially doesn’t sound country, it feels like an alternative rock song delivered by a 90’s band.

“She’s My Kind of Rain” is your usual country narrative song along with “Everywhere.”  You can just imagine how very soap opera the video of these songs will be.  “Not A Moment Too Soon” sounds like a boring country song in the beginning, however, the mood changed from serene to playful during the chorus portion.  It is about someone touching life during darkest hours.  “Unbroken” is very Taylor Swift in terms of melody and lyrics when she was still doing country.

The rest of the songs in this compilation album can be considered as fillers and nothing great from them except that these are just alright to listen to when you have nothing new on your playlist.  I rate this record 3 stars out of 5 stars out of respect for Tim McGraw.

Ratings Description:

1 star = Ignore it

2 stars= risk it

3 stars = borrow or buy it

4 stars = buy it and keep it

5 = buy, keep, and treasure it
