Album Review : DUETS (2014)
Artist : Linda Ronstadt
Genre : Pop/Folk/Country

linda ronstadt
She is one of the most successful singers of all time though not as great as Madonna and Barbra Streisand in terms of fame and commercial success. However, she did make some dent in the entertainment world securing her place in the music industry as one singer who is not afraid to venture into unknown territories. This compilation album showcase how good she is as a singer and how she effortlessly can shift from one musical genre to another.

She sings without forced vocal technique in “I Can’t Get Over You.” Even in standards, she can transform an old Motown classic into a folk music without people noticing how different the treatment she did with “Walk Away Renee.” In “The New Waltz Partner”, she encourages you to fall in love again. In “Pretty Bird,” she showed that she didn’t need instruments to deliver a good song. “I Can’t Help It (If I Am Still In Love With You)” will show to other new female singers out there how to sing with right kind of emotions without damaging vocal chords.

This compilation will never be complete if successful duet singles are not included such as “Somewhere Out There” and Don’t Know Much.” Some people will buy this record because of these record, which is a good thing as these two songs might just what she needs in order for new generations be oriented with her musical artistry and excellence. I rate this record 3.5 stars out 5 stars.
